From Oxygen …

… comes this Monkey. Various incarnations of him, along with some other friends, appear on my day's sketches. I'm moving across the city on the first, but expect more daily.

Last night, I fulfilled one of my life's goals: to see B.B. King live in concert.

At 78 years old, he played the concert sitting down, but did in no way disappoint. A quick wit, great stage personality and fantastic sense of humour made for an amazing concert. Said Hannah: "I like how his eyes are sparkly."

Life with Oxygen

A tour of Oxygen Design + Communications – I'm so very happy to be there. When I first got the tour, I was a little stunned.

My desk with cinema display!

The view from my chair

The lunch area and couches

Illy cups and an espresso machine

Reception desk with bubbles!

Courtyard view

The exterior of 401 Richmond St. W.

Now with CN tower!

First Week

I normally judge my readership by the comments, a rather large oversight according to my conversation with Tricky Pup. As such, expect some worthwhile updates soon. Promise.

In my defense though, I thought I was going to have a nice normal life, 9 to 5, with time for the gym and a nice dinner. Instead, it's been 9 to 6:30 (closer to 7) non stop and then out until the wee hours. Bed at 1 or even 2, up at 7, out the door at 8, and repeat.

To be fair, it hasn't just been studio madness. Tram's in town so my evenings have been filled with what can only be some of Toronto's most fairly priced and most delicious food and wine. Gelato in Old Italy, steak and lobster on Yonge, and more delights await today.

The Adventures of a GAINFULLY Employed Designer!

I got the job! Tomorrow morning, at 9 am sharp, I'm the new employee of Oxygen Design + Communications!

I did not just order two Daleks. Really. One is not the exclusive one I've been talking about.. The other one is not his counterpart. I will not be making short stop-motion films of my current pair fighting the new pair, when they don't arrive in the mail.

Wake up, Rhianna Bryn. The world is waiting for you to open your eyes, and I can't wait to meet my niece. Congratulations to my sister Lesley and her husband, Peter!

A Bit of Good News

Woot! Yes, woot.

Good things happen in threes apparently. New apartment is one, the above is two (I guess?). Let's hope that job is next.

The Continuing Adventures of an Unemployed Designer

Have an interview tomorrow morning with an award-winning studio I really want to work for.

Just had my portfolio reviewed by Hannah. So many tiny little mistakes!

I need this one folks. Wish me luck.
