Sometimes, All You Need is a Crown

Hannah, creative genius that she is, and I were working on a couple of poster concepts for an upcoming series. When it came to designing a poster for the White Buffalo Dancers, she proposed this:

Which she delightfully referred to as that "Fucking Buffalo King Thing".
Damnit! Got caught by the Thursday Sneak Attack Ambush of Drinking!

Thursday, March 25, 2004

Ugh. The Wednesday Sneak Attack Ambush of Drinking was very narrowly avoided.

My little apartment is empty and sad.

Back to living at the parents' place for the next 4 days. Sigh.

Anyone remember that post on the first of March? This one:

"augh. Augh. Augh! AUGH! AUGH!AUGH!AUGH!AUGH!!!
I'm stuck in Revision hell. This is like the fourth fricking round for crying out loud.
Oh, the client is SO getting billed ina big way. More from the Monkey once this crap is done."

Yes. Well here's an update. I revised and signed off on a proof. Today, I found ANOTHER set of revisions waiting for me. The final. The SIXTH.

While guest-hosting my friend's radio show today, I was called three times by the moving company.

Any chance they can pick up everything tomorrow as opposed to Thursday? It would mean I would be guaranteed to get my stuff by the 1st.

One insane evening of packing later, I'm done. And my life is in little boxes.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

That's a wrap. Photography for Skinny Monkey ended tonight at around 11:30 pm. Much thanks to De, Randy, Tara, Ian and of course Sam.

Something huge, terrible and completely unacceptable happened during shooting today.

I'll have details on my blog once I've sent off a couple of letters to important people. Stay tuned for the shocking details.

Really. I'm pissed.

The good news is that the shoot went well, and all we're missing is a two minute, single-take intro sequence.

Sunday, March 21, 2004

Shooting commences at 1 pm sharp.

Right.

So.

Movers coming on Thursday, not Monday. That's a good thing. However, this means I may not get my stuff until the 10th of April, as opposed to the first. That's a bad thing.

My mom is absolutely fantastic. She called me on Thursday to let me know that she'd done her best to try and buy me a certain book, but had been thwarted when it came to the part about the fonts. Being amazing, she handed over all the pertinent info (ahem, credit card number) to me, and one quick dose of ordering later, I am ready to be full of type bliss when the book ships in April, which means it will probably arrive appropriately for my birthday in May.

And one parting thought about moving: I'm slightly panicked, but slightly calm about it. Right now, it's panic.

I hope everyone got their invites to the going-away bash my friends are throwing me. If not, check it out here.

In Retrospect
Things are better. It's fantastic and terrible all at once.

And then Design!
Oh my God! OHMIGOD!!!! Beautiful! Gorgeous! Amazing! Unbelievable! I want it so so so badly! My favourite type foundry is publishing a book! It delights me already! Go check it out!

Got a date for Saturday night.

In other news, two fantastic women I have the pleasure of knowing are throwing me a "Get the Hell Out Already" party. Looks like it's going to be on the 26th of March.

Be there or watch your back.

Seriously.

On the waffle and pancake debate:

"I don't care how many nationalities you give a pancake!"
So apparently, I'm heading downtown tomorrow to help forge a partnership with an inner-city, spiritual hip-hop group.

And I've got a small team of designers to work with.

And proposing the implementation of long-term strategies and over-reaching structure to the creative teams (oh, I didn't mention that we're forming more teams?) in the CRC Studio.

Damn. Busy, exciting times.

Mad props go out to Roman Kotovych and Lisa McLaughlin, who won their election races last night in ass-kicking margins.

And man, election kids know how to party. I haven't been dancing in way too long - any takers for breaking it down next weekend?

And here's to sleep ruining yet another evening, right Kelly? ;)

Early Whyte Mornings

Just some early morning photos of Whyte Avenue from the other day.

augh. Augh. Augh! AUGH! AUGH!AUGH!AUGH!AUGH!!!

I'm stuck in Revision hell. This is like the fourth fricking round for crying out loud.

Oh, the client is SO getting billed ina big way. More from the Monkey once this crap is done.
