More Spider-Type Rohbuts

These were actually the first sketches for the rohbut who was posted on Tuesday. You can see I'm was still developing the character - he lost two of his arms, not to mention one of the articulation points in his legs. I still don't know if the stovepipe exhaust will stick around.

A Random Rohbut

Zounds! Something seems to have startled him.

Well, once he's back to normal, I'm sure this guy will soon be joining both Stompy and Watty for zany, mechanical adventures. Hell, the Y-Fronts Rohbut might even tag along.

The Drawing Board

For some reason, I've started a new personal project which is going to require me to do over 25 watercolour illustrations, and around 30 pages of layout by the beginning of August.

So I've started sketching. I've got 19 illustrations sketched out to some degree, and the others mostly figured out in my brain. Here's one of my early sketches:

Scrawl - GFC Crew

Scrawl has been updated. Now, one of these days I'll get around to redesigning it. And this blog. And my website. Crap.

CHRIGOV Industries

That, as some of you will already know, is a sly teaser for the FULL-COLOUR, TWENTY PAGE books that were mailed out recently. TWENTY (count 'em, but include the covers, ok?) pages of slick, over-designed, over-the-top goodness sprinkled with just the right amount of hilarious monkeys, stunning photographs, and geeky design jokes!

Can't wait to get your hands on it? Well, you better. It's probably en route to you right now, courtesy of the good people at Canada Post. And even if you don't get one in your mailbox, not to worry! The entire TWENTY PAGES of sheer amazingness will be available online, right here! Tomorrow. Or Thursday at the latest. Promise.

Here's a quick sketch I did today. I really wanted to convey a lot of movement into my character, so I started with some gestural lines, and built it up from there – hence the sketchiness.

Where is Stompy going and why is he in such a hurry? I don't know. But I will say this: those swirls are supposed to be little dust clouds.

Hairy Typography

This monkey is an experiment in different style, but I only later realize that he's quite appropriate, as the musical just opened here in Toronto.

That's an Octopus, Not a Squid.

Yeah, but "squid" is a much easier and way shorter word to render in cool, blocky, quasi-3-D letters. Anyway, I picked up a new marker. So far, it's been great fun learning to use it, I just wish it wouldn't bleed through the paper.
