At the Haberdashery

Good Lord! Some strange turn of events seems to have left our aristocratic simian friend without his usual topper! And his stalwart, but decidedly proletariat, companion Barbisol is nowhere to be seen! Well, first things first - a new hat to please the countenance. A quick visit to the haberdashery should do it....

SO...MANY...

DALEKS! A mass gathering of the monstrous, Machiavellian, metallic machines took place in Manchester recently, in an attempt to create a new world record (a world record of awesomeness, that is).

Seriously though, the BBC has a small article here, and this Flickr user has tons of great photos. Personally, one of the most interesting aspects to the Daleks is how little the design has evolved over the past 45 years. In fact, the 2005 season introduced the first major change to the overall design, and it's still quite minor in the grand scheme of things. I'm impressed with the restraint the Doctor Who design team has shown.

Now, if only the designer of the new AT&T logo had taken a cue from them...

In the Pipes

I'm working on a lot these days. I've been shooting more photos, both personal and professional, this year that I have in the past couple of years. I'm also trying to get a photojournalism portfolio together. And, all the while, I'm trying to put some finishing touches on my book.

But then I have these little ideas that I think will work, and everything gets interrupted. Sigh. That's the problem when you have a cubbyhole mind (and yes, I suffer from the Mojo effect).

Anyway, here's a little something I've mocked up, hope to get into production, and am thinking of selling alongside the book. They're little cardboard stand-ups of some of the illustrations from the book.
